Sam Alfred Capitano

On September 14, Sam Captiano passed away in Southport, NC. The son of Salvatore and Maria Capitano, Sam was born in Pittston, PA in 1921. He served in Army during WW II, seeing action in the European theater. He married Lucy Giuliano in 1946. They moved to Virginia after their marriage, where he worked at the Dept. of Interior for 30 years, residing in McLean for most of the time. Sam is survived by four sons, Sam, Ki, Larry, and David, as well as four grandchildren (Salvatore, Kathleen, Andy, and Lauren), and three daughter-in-law's (Terry, Sparkle, and Charlotte). His wife Lucy predeceased him in 2008. Sam was a longtime member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a parishioner at St. John's Church for over 40 years. Visitation will be held at Murphy's Funeral Home in Falls Church on Sunday, September 24, from 2-4 PM and from 6-8 PM. Funeral Mass will be held in St. James Church in Falls Church on Monday, September 25 at 10:00 AM.
