OBITUARY
Joseph Michael Wixted Jr
22 May, 1942 – 4 May, 2021
IN THE CARE OF
D.O. McComb & Sons Funeral Homes - Pine Valley
Joseph Michael Wixted Jr, age 78, passed away at home on May 4, 2021.
He was born at home in Willow Glen, New York to Joseph M Wixted and Harriet Drake Wixted Morgan, who both preceded him in death, as did his sister Carol Wixted Hunt, and his stepfather Peter Morgan.
He is survived by his wife, Marion (Tobin) Wixted, his two sons Joseph M Wixted III (Karen) of Chesterton, IN, and Jeffrey M Wixted (Joann) of Sullivan, IN, Grandsons Adam M Wixted, Jeffrey M Wixted Jr (Kadie), Granddaughter Breanna Southwood, and Great Grandson Easton Wallace Southwood, his sister Kathleen "Kate" Wixted Francis, and several nieces and nephews.
He was Manager of Engineering Operations at ITT Electro Optics, Fort Wayne, and then Plant Manager at S & S Optical Company, retiring in 2004.
Joseph loved his family, his friends, and his kitties. He enjoyed traveling, summers on Nantucket, genealogy, baking and the very occasional pun.
Those lucky enough to have called him husband, dad, brother, uncle, friend or grandpa are who they are today because he had touched them in some special way. He will be missed but his impact survives in those souls who crossed his path, be it as a short encounter or a lasting connection.
His passing will be celebrated at a private gathering of his dearest friends and family at a future date. We intend to honor his life with something to eat, something to toast, and fond remembrance as deep into the evening as we need to go.
Memorials can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society or to Alzheimer’s Association.
