Luella Mae Schweyer

LUELLA MAE SCHWEYER, 78, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Della (Lepper) Zelt. She lived in Hoagland and Fort Wayne until moving to Big Turkey Lake in 1988. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, in Stroh. Luella graduated from Hoagland High School in 1953. She worked at Lincoln Life, The Clothes Fix'r and most recently was employed as the secretary at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Stroh. On May 3, 1958, she married Donald Schweyer at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest, and they had just celebrated 56 years of marriage; he survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Barbara Steele of Huntington, Ind., Carolyn (Don, Jr.) Cuney of Columbia City, Ind., and Mary Schweyer of Fort Wayne; her twin sons, Michael and Mark (Melanie) Schweyer, both of Fort Wayne; 11 grandchildren, Luke and Rachael Henkenius, Jennifer Steele, Jamie DeTar, Kyle, Brandon, Hannah, Miriam, Olivia, Sarah, and ElleAna Schweyer; twin great-granddaughters, Leighla and Melody; and brother, Delmer Zelt of Monroeville, Ind. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Zelt; and two sisters, Rosella Franz and Florence Hitzemann. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 10275 E. County Road 550 S., Hudson (IN 46747), with calling one hour prior. Pastor Jim Elsner officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Concordia Cemetery Gardens.
