OBITUARY
Patricia C. Heemstra
7 January, 1928 – 15 March, 2018
Patricia (Pat) C. Heemstra, 90, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Woodview Assisted Living. Born January 7, 1928, in Oak Hill, WV and raised in Fayetteville, WV, she graduated from Purdue University with a dietetics degree in 1949. She married a fellow Purdue graduate, Ted Heemstra in 1950. Together they traveled the world: South America (Brazil, Gianna, Peru), Easter Island, Pitcairn, South Sea Islands, India and Mexico.
Pat had many careers: hospital dietician, real estate broker, real estate specialist for the Community Development and Planning Department for the City of Fort Wayne and, in New York, host of her television cooking show. She enjoyed acting in local theater and continued her social activism all her life. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and active in First Presbyterian Church in Ft. Wayne.
Pat is preceded in death by Ted, her parents (Mae & Nick Crouse), sons Herbert and Kenneth (KC). She is survived by her sons, Tom of Fayetteville, WV and Bill (Sarah) of Chapel Hill, NC, six grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
The Celebration of Life Ceremony will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at Klaehn, Fahl & Melton Funeral Home, 420 West Wayne Street, with visitation from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.
