Samuel James Rykard

Samuel James Rykard, 62, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at his home. Born August 26, 1956 in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late James Rykard and Betty (Buttery) Rykard, who survives. He graduated from Carroll High School, class of 1976, and furthered his education at International Business College. Samuel was an owner and managing partner of Brothers Express, Inc. for 30 years and attended Pathway Community Church for the past 15 years. He was a St. Joe Little League Coach for 13 years winning a state championship in 2013. Sam belonged to Pheasants Forever Eel River Chapter in Columbia City and enjoyed hunting, fishing, being at his cottage at Lake Gage, and fishing trips to Lake Erie during the summer. He also enjoyed Notre Dame Football and Komets Hockey. He is also survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Cynthia “Cindy” (Farmer) Rykard of Fort Wayne; only beloved son, Samuel Stone Rykard of Fort Wayne; brother, Vance (Bobbi) Rykard of Saline, Mich.; and sister, Kay (Cleat) Roller of Auburn. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Mark Rykard. Funeral Service is 11:00 am on Friday, December 14, 2018 at Pathway Community Church, 11910 Shearwater Run, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling is also from 11am – 3pm and 5-8pm on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne. Burial at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne.
