Ernesto Paiva

Ernesto Paiva Vide, 87, of Hampton, Virginia passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 surrounded by family. He was born November 4, 1933 in Ourense, Spain to the late Ernesto Paiva Fernandez and Leocadia Blanco Vide. He served his country proudly for 28 years in the Air Force. His career took him to Germany, Illinois, Texas, Bermuda, California, Thailand, and Republic of Panama where he made forever friends. Ernesto enjoyed bowling, gardening (which was his passion), crossword puzzles, and spending time with his friends, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was the most generous and giving person you could ever meet. Ernesto was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Rose Paiva, and his first-born daughter, Linet. He is survived by his five children: Dolores (Wayne), Marco, Marina, Ernie (Liz), and Linda (Rodney); sister-in-law Trude (Marco); grandchildren: Travis, Chris, Marc, Evan, Amari, Joshua, and Gabriela; great-grandchildren: Imani, Giovanni, and Isabella; and 2 special nieces in Spain. Ernesto was always ready for a celebration. So today and forever, we will celebrate the life and memory of our dear Ernesto. The family wishes to express sincere thanks to Dr. McCormick, Dr. Hartke, Riverside Hospice, as well as many friends and neighbors for their acts of kindness, assistance, and prayers during this difficult time.
