Shirley Y. Houpt

Shirley Y. Houpt, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, at James River Convalescent and Rehab Center after a long illness. Shirley was a loving homemaker who always put family and others before herself. She volunteered with the Girl and Boy Scouts of America as well as organizations in the City of Hampton. She loved nature and animals. Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband of 47 years. She leaves to cherish her memory a daughter, Debbie Houpt, a son, Billy Houpt, a granddaughter, Nichole Sandoval, all of Hampton, and a brother, Jack Yow of North Carolina, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends to cherish her memory. A private service and burial will be held at Parklawn Memorial Park where Shirley will be laid to rest. The family wishes to extend gratitude to the staff of James River Convalescent and Rehab Center and to the Virginia Health Hospice Team for their care and compassion.
