Elverna R. Sknerski

Elverna R. Sknerski, age 83, of Hammond, IN passed away May 15th, 2018. She was born September 8, 1934 in Kinder, Louisiana to Rena Fontenot and Adam Richard. She is preceded in death by her husband Walter, her dear son Larry, daughter-in-law Maricarol, and granddaughter Ashley Huhsman. She is survived by her four children, Joseph (Ann) Sknerski, Kathy (Eddie) Garcia, Susan (Robert) Vajko and Tina (Gregg) Huhsman, grandchildren, Sarah (Todd) Hartman, Cora Sknerski, Amanda (Alex) Koziol, Michael Garcia, Lauren (Darrin) Najar, Caryn (Phil) Morales, Mark Sknerski, along with great grandchildren Alex, Aidan, Abigail, Elle, Brooklyn, dear friend Karen, and best (canine) friend Chloe. Friends may visit with the family on Friday morning, May 18th from 9:30 to 11:30am at Kuiper Funeral Home 9039 Kleinman Rd (two blocks south of Ridge Rd) in Highland, IN. Immediately following visitation there will be a short service at Kuiper Funeral Home, officiated by Brother Todd Wright, and Karen Bradley followed by burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, in Schererville, IN. In addition to her parents, Elverna was also preceded in death by three sisters, Eloise Fontenot, Lorraine Deeter, Lois Ralph, and one brother, Lloyd Richard. Elverna was a loving, caring Mother and Grandmother and was retired from Inland Steel, after working at the 80" HotStrip Mill and #11 Coke Plant.
