Wilma Irene Dohner

Wilma Irene Dohner, 92 of Kokomo passed away Wednesday July 10, 2019 at St. Vincent Kokomo Hospital. She was born March 6, 1927 to the late Jay Hendrix and Catherine (Littler) Hendrix in Kokomo. She married Wayne Laughner in December of 1952 and he passed away July 3, 1991. Wilma remarried in December 1996 to Allen Dohner in Pahrump, NV. and he passed away June of 2006. Wilma graduated from Kokomo High School with the class of 1944. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Catholic Liberal Arts College. She retired from General Motors in 1984 at the age of 57, serving over 30 years. Wilma also worked as a legal secretary for a couple of attorneys in Tipton and Kokomo. In high school Wilma played the clarinet in the band. She also played the organ at Main Street Methodist Church in Kokomo and in Nevada. When she was married to Wayne, they enjoyed square dancing and clogging. Recently her hobbies were playing euchre at the Kokomo Senior Citizens Center and Wii bowling and golfing. She never met a slot machine she didn't like! Wilma was an avid reader and was recently attending Judson Road Christian Church in Kokomo. Surviving is her son Terry Laughner, daughter Karen Domanico, son Tim Laughner, son-in-law Dick Bougher, step daughter Shirley Ogletree, grandchildren Staci, Shannon, Theo, Krista, Priscilla, Jacob, Samantha, Maggie and Max, step granddaughter Sunny Lee, and 15 great grandchildren, one great-great grandson, several nieces, nephews and special friends Dick and Gail Truax. Those who have passed before her are her parents, husbands Wayne and Allen, daughter Toni Bougher, son-in-law Albert Domanico, her siblings, and great grandson Austin LaDue. The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Five Star Residencies at North Woods Commons. If you wish to leave a contribution in Wilma's memory, you may do so towards the American Heart Association or Judson Road Christian Church. A Celebration of Life for Wilma will take place at Ellers Mortuary Webster Chapel Monday July 15, 2019 at 12:00pm with Pastor Gary Carpenter officiating. Friends and family will gather from 11:00am to noon with the memorial service immediately following.
