Mrs. Opal Irene Cartwright, age 100, of Stockbridge, Georgia, died Monday, December 18, 2017, near Stockbridge, Georgia. A native of Wayne County, Indiana, Mrs. Cartwright was a loving wife and mother who loved reading. She had been a cook with the McGuffey School District in Washington County, Pennsylvania and was employed as a clerk at General Nutrition Company in Richmond, Indiana. Mrs. Cartwright and her husband, James had farmed in the Gettysburg, Ohio area and had lived in New Paris, Ohio.
Mrs. Cartwright is survived by her sisters: Barbara Doan and Jeannine Schlosser; a brother: Frank Blue; her daughter and son-in-law: Cathy Parkinson and Darrell, two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs Cartwright was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, James Allen Cartwright; four brothers and three sisters.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 am Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens north of Boston in Wayne County. Friends may visit will be from 6 to 8 pm Friday, December 22, 2017 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty, Indiana.
