Obituary of William Dale Corn
William Dale Corn, 71, of Connersville died March 8, 2018 at Reid Health. On April 12, 1946, Dale was born to William Hubert and Leslie Williams Corn in Tonasket, Washington. He graduated from Randolph Southern High School in Lynn, Indiana and married the former, Carole Franklin on November 12, 1965 at Edwards Memorial United Methodist Church, Liberty. Dale honorably served in the United States Military for thirty years; serving six years in the United States Army and retiring from the Indiana National Guard, where he attained the rank of Major. While enlisted, Dale traveled to various states and countries and was blessed with several close friendships with fellow soldiers. He had also been employed at Design and Manufacturing, Visteon and its predecessors and Intat, receiving the nickname, "Kernel Corn" from his coworkers . In his leisure time, Dale could be found at the Union County Speedway enjoying the races, checking out local car shows or tinkering around the house. He was known to dance and loved all music, especially rock n’ roll. Dale appreciated movies, old western cowboy movies were his favorite. He loved visiting his friends at Dale’s Towing and eating B.L.T sandwiches from Liberty Bell Restaurant. Dale was a great man who absolutely adored his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dale is survived by his wife, Carole Corn of Connersville; his sons: Tim Corn and Greg Corn, both of Connersville; his grandchildren: Jessica Corn, Maria Corn, Jacob Corn and his fiancée, Jordan, Andrea Corn, Elizabeth Pass and her husband, Darren; his great-grandchildren: Bradley, Bladen, Bane, Kamari, Abriella, Adalynn, Jaiden, Abel, Jaicey and one on the way, Finn. In addition to his parents, Dale is preceded in death by his brother: Jerry Corn and his mother-in-law and father-in-law: Marjorie and Joe Frasur. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Fosdick Chapel, Liberty. Interment will follow with military honors. Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday, from 4 until 8 p.m. where memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
