Cornelia Burnette Lindsay

Cornelia Burnett Lindsay, 83, of Lynchburg, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Reuben Earl Lindsay.
Born on November 29, 1934 in Bedford County, she was the daughter of the late Jake Anthony Burnett and the late Isabel Cofer Burnett. Cornelia retired from GE/ Ericsson and enjoyed playing the lottery, going to casino’s, gardening, canning, and taking care of her grandchildren. Cornelia was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Berkley Burnett and Albert Anthony Burnett.
Cornelia is survived by her daughters, Shirley Evans and husband John of Lynchburg, Shelby Hughes and husband John of Lynchburg, and Donna Lindsay of Clemmons, NC; her son, Michael Lindsay and wife Shannon of Birmingham, AL; nine grandchildren, Terrie Newby, Kris Newby, Sherrie Newby, Jeremy Hughes and wife Cammie, Lindsey Oliver and husband Fred, Brian Thomas, Carson Bryant and husband Jimmy, Tyler Lindsay, and Joannie Gorhum and husband Russ; 14 great grandchildren; sister, Frances Burnett Omasta; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Virginia Memorial Park.
There will be no formal visitation; however, the family will receive friends at Cornelia’s residence.
