Thomas Sullivan

Thomas Sullivan, 62, of Lynchburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at his residence. Born on November 13, 1955 in East Orange, NJ, he was the son of the late Timothy Sullivan and Charlotte Scott Sullivan. Tom was born and raised in New Jersey. After graduating from Montville HS he attended Lynchburg College in Virginia. After spending six years searching for a major there, he fell in love with the area. Tom worked in several endeavors but spent the majority of his time in the food industry, as he enjoyed cooking. Most would agree his prime ribs and soups were the best. Setting up shop at the Wiener Stand in Bedford, Virginia he enjoyed getting to know the locals for many years. Finding solace in nature, Tom enjoyed being close to the Blue Ridge Mountains, and later relished the four summers spent cooking in Alaska. As a long time cancer survivor, Tom empathized with those suffering from disabilities and his generosity will not be forgotten. Friends and family remember a man who enjoyed laughter, a good argument and a good time. Tom is survived by his sister, Patrice Sullivan (Craig Miller) of Livingston, NJ; brothers, Timothy Sullivan of Boonton, NJ, Dennis Sullivan (Renee Cicerchi) of Strafford, NH and Joseph Sullivan (Dorothy) of Bethlehem, PA; nephews, Michael Bary and Rick Bary; girlfriend, Beverly Russell of Lynchburg; step-mother, Hilda Sullivan, Frederic, MD; step-brother, Stephen Poirer of Baltimore, MD; and step-sister, Cheryl Poirer of Frederic, MD A celebration of life service will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Whitten Timberlake Chapel, with Pastor Rick Dillinger. Following the service there will be a period of visitation with a reception.
