Ruby Evelyn Tomlin

Ruby T. Tomlin, 86, of Amherst, passed away Friday, September 15, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the wife of the late Anderson Vaughan “Kap” Tomlin. Born May 31, 1931 in Amherst County, she was the daughter of the late Sam Henry and Minnie Hartless Tomlin and was also preceded in death by six brothers, Al, Henry, George, Hal, Lonzie, and Claudie Tomlin and a sister, Sylvia T. Angus. Mrs. Tomlin retired from Sweet Briar College after thirty-two years of service. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was of Baptist faith. Mrs. Tomlin is survived by three sons, Sam L. Tomlin, A. Vaughan Tomlin, Jr. and wife Cathy, and Hank W. Tomlin and wife Laura; one brother, Bennie Tomlin; one sister, Lillie Tomlin, all of Amherst; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 18, 2017 at Amherst Cemetery with Pastor Dwayne Martin officiating.
