Obituary of Eleanor Shropshire Kallam
Eleanor Shropshire Kallam September 26, 1933 – November 23, 2018 Eleanor Shropshire Kallam, 85, of Ridgeway, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 23, 2018. She was born on September 26, 1933 to the late James Lee (Tommy) Shropshire and Rachel Sheppard Shropshire. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Stewart Kallam; 2 sons, James Dewey (J.D.) Kallam and Paul Sheppard Kallam; 2 brothers, Howard Lee Shropshire and Joe Canie Shropshire. Eleanor was employed by Henry County Public Schools for 51 years as a bus driver. She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church of Ridgeway where she played the organ for over 55 years. She was a 1951 graduate of Ridgeway High School where she played on the basketball team that won the championship in 1950-51. She was very active in the 4-H club and because of her participation and achievements was 1 of 4 selected to attend National 4-H Camp in Washington, DC. She loved her family, her church, her many years of driving the school bus and her cat. She was very dedicated to these. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy K. Stanley of Ridgeway, a son, Stewart Lee Kallam and wife, Myrna of LaGrange, GA; 3 grandchildren, Casey Daniel Stanley, Lamenda Carol Kallam and Amelia Lynn Kallam; a sister, Mary Ruth Hardin (Dave) of Danville; 2 sisters-in-law, Jean Shropshire and Ann Shropshire; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends Monday, November 26th from 6 to 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Ridgeway and other times at the home of Jean Shropshire, Church Street in Ridgeway. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 27th at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Ridgeway with interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Pastor Lewis Harris will officiate.
