John G. Harcum

John Gary Harcum, 79, of Midlothian VA passed away Thursday, May 12nd. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years Lois Ann Harcum; his sister Ann; and his niece Molly Alice. Born and raised on the Great Wicomico Fountain Farm near Reedville VA, Gary worked with his family on the farm raising crops and cultivating oysters. He attended Bridgewater College where he met his wife Lois, and then enlisted in the US Air Force in 1965 as a first lieutenant and was honorably discharged as a Captain. Gary obtained his MBA from VCU and worked for Virginia Air Distributors until his retirement in 2007. Gary is survived by his two sons Chad (Heather) and Nathan (Ellen) and 4 grandchildren Gray (18), Kylie (15), Jake (9) and Emma (7). He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Gary was a member of Mt Pisgah Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on June 2nd at Woody Funeral Home, Huguenot Chapel, 1020 Huguenot Rd., Midlothian, VA. There will be a private family service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Caritas of Richmond or the American Cancer Society.
