Jay D. Cork

Jay D. Cork, age 75, of Indianapolis, died Thursday April 12, 2018 in Indianapolis. Born April 27, 1942, he was the son of Harold and Mim Cork. He graduated from Speedway High School and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Ball State University, where he was a fraternity member of Beta Theta Pi. He earned a Masters Degree in School Psychology from Butler University and retired as a School Psychologist and Interim Superintendent of the Brownsburg School Corporation. He had a passion for British cars, golf, playing piano, and was an artist of many talents. He was a member of American Legion Post 500 in Speedway, Indiana. Jay is survived by his wife, Kathy (Borders Howard) Cork of Indianapolis; two daughters, Kimberly Spencer of Nashville, Indiana and Jennifer (Mike) Labesky of Snow Hill, Maryland; one stepson, Benjamin (Michele) Howard of Boulder, Colorado; four grandchildren, Sage and Eli Labesky, Lilian Spencer, and Evelyn Howard; three siblings, Jan (Henry) Birk of Fishers, Joe (Marilyn) Cork and Jeff Cork, both of Speedway and one son-in-law Grady Spencer of Indianapolis. Jay was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Libby Spencer. A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, April 17, at 6:00 p.m. at the American Legion Post 500 in Speedway, Indiana.
