Marian (Dorris) Harper

Marian (Dorris) Harper, 85, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018, at River Pointe Health Campus. Marian was born in Evansville, Indiana, on May 19, 1933, to the late Albert Frank and Irma Dorris. She graduated from Bosse High School and in 1950 married Donald G. Harper. They were married for 64 years, and she cared for him at home until his death from Parkinson’s in 2015. Marian was a devoted wife and mother, bringing family together for home-cooked meals and holiday celebrations. She enjoyed knitting, often gifting her creations or donating them to local charities. She will be greatly missed. Marian is survived by her children, David Harper of Chandler, Rosemary Harper of Newburgh and Shannon Bradley of Newburgh. Also surviving are grandchildren, Crystal Harper Wilson of Oakland City; Sarah Morris of Newburgh; Tyler Geren (Tim) of Indianapolis and Trevor Bradley (Alex) of Evansville; great-grandchildren, Preston and Anna Wilson; sister, Janet Krietemeyer (Norman) of Newburgh; sister-in-law, Lucie Dorris of Newburgh; and several nieces and nephews. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Dorris. Services will be at 1pm, Friday, July 6, 2018, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel with entombment at Park Lawn Cemetery. Pastor Steve Akins will be officiating. Friends may visit Friday from 10am until service time at the funeral home. The family thanks those who cared for Marian at River Pointe Health Campus for the past several years.
