Viola Doris Ventura

Viola D. (Dottie) Ventura passed away after a long illness at 95 years old on Tuesday, November 19, 2019. Predeceased by husband of 50 years, Joseph Ventura, Jr., she is survived by son, Joseph Ventura, III (Holly Ventura); daughter, Linda Marie Exum (Bruce Exum, Sr.); sons, John Ventura and Mark Ventura; grandsons, Bruce Exum, Jr. (Michelle Exum), Stephen Ventura, Mark Ventura, Jr.and Joseph Ventura, IV; granddaughter, Megan Ventura; and four great grandchildren, Kasey Baum (David Baum), Hannah Exum, Jacob Exum and Stephen Ventura, Jr. She was born in North Carolina and moved to Norfolk, VA once married. She and her husband lived in the Oakdale Farms neighborhood for 30 years. It was there they opened their home to serve as foster parents to over a hundred children. When questioned how she was able to do that she always responded that she considered it a labor of love. She was a long time member of Oakdale Presbyterian Church. Family visitation will be from 7pm to 9pm on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, with interment to follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
