Alvin A. “Pete” Bradtmueller, 89, of rural Fort Wayne passed away on Wednesday April 4, 2018. He was born on August 22, 1928, a son of the late Theodore and Clara (Bobay) Bradtmueller. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a lifelong farmer and also drove school bus for East Allen County Schools for 40 years. He was a member at St. Mark Lutheran Church, Thiele Rd. where he served as president among many other positions. He was president of Echo-German Mutual Insurance Company, Inc. from 1986-2009 and served on the board of directors from 1974-2017. He was also a member of American Legion Post 296. Surviving family include his wife, Betty; children, Darlene (Dennis) Fiedler, Donald (Michelle) Bradtmueller, Cynthia (Sheldon) Meyer, Marvin (Rebecca) Bradtmueller; grandchildren, Trent and Troy Fiedler, Stephanie Fawcett, Shelby Todd, Thomas Bradtmueller; step grandchildren, Alex and Alivia Butcher; a great grandson, Brantley Fawcett; and siblings, Gilbert, Adelia Hoffmeier, and Mildred Dawson. Besides his parents, he was preceded in passing by his siblings, Elmer, Arthur, Lawrence, Edward, Elna, Leona, Elsie, and Helen. Funeral service will be 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 16933 Thiele Rd., Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Visitation will also be from 1-3 and 6-8 pm on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Funeral Home, 120 West Mill St., Ossian. Burial will be in the St. Mark Lutheran Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church or Southern Care Hospice.
