Jean B Smith

Smith, Jean Byrd, died peacefully at the age of 77 in Harrisonburg, Va., on Thursday, May 9, 2019. She was predeceased by her parents, Robert Williamson Smith and Mae Byrd Smith. She is survived by a number of cousins and other family members. Jean graduated from Douglas Freeman High School in Richmond and obtained her undergraduate degree from Richmond Professional Institute, then her master's degree from VCU/MCV in clinical chemistry. She retired from the Medical College of Virginia after 34 years of service. Jean was an avid horsewoman and a member of Deep Run Hunt Club. She owned a riding school and was a riding instructor for many years in Powhatan County. A graveside service will be conducted on Tuesday, May 14, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Westhampton Memorial Park, 10000 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. 23238.
