Obituary of Nancy Elizabeth Moir
MOIR, Nancy Elizabeth, 73, of Richmond, died Monday, August 29, 2011 in Williamsburg. She grew up in Roanoke, Va., where she met and married her loving husband, Lee. In December 2010, Nancy and Lee celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her husband, Lee L. Moir; children, Steve Moir, Susan Moir Armbruster and her husband, George Armbruster, and Chinh Vu and his wife, Huyhn Pham; grandchildren, Tucker, Whit and Scott Armbruster, Du Yen and Minh Vu; and two sisters, Carol Mann and Peggy Roberts. Nancy received a Bachelor of Arts from Mary Washington College in 1960. Additionally, she earned a master's degree in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1992. She was an educator for 25 years. Nancy taught five years at Maybeury Elementary School. Later, she ran an English as a Second Language Center at Hermitage High School, serving three schools for 18 years. Together, with her excellent teaching skills and counseling degree, she helped hundreds of students from around the world become educated and productive American citizens. Mrs. Moir was a member of Welborne United Methodist Church for over 45 years. Family and friends will miss her loving, nurturing spirit and her sought-after words of wisdom. Nancy was an extremely devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 1, 2011 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, September 2, 2011, also at the Parham Chapel of Woody Funeral Home. Interment at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
