Jean Brown

Ethel Jean (Mays) Brown, 78, of Stuarts Draft passed away Friday, August 25, 2017 at Augusta Health. Born January 31, 1939 in Stuarts Draft, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Gibson and Nannie (Chandler) Mays. Jean was a member of Community Baptist Church, Manassas, Va. She was employed for a number of years at Coffey’s Market where she worked as a clerk. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth Seabolt, Catherine Gordon and Annie Hutley; brothers, Mack, Russell and George Mays; half-sister-, Hellen Mays Rodgers; half-brothers, Oscar, Oatha, John and Merle Mays. Survivors include her husband, James Brown; son, Michael Brown and wife, Brenda of Crimora; granddaughters, Clarissa Hoffman and husband, Tyler of Fishersville, Ashley Smith and husband, James of Winchester and Taylor Brown of Staunton; great grandson, Mason Miller of Crimora; great granddaughter, Charlee Smith of Winchester; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Stuarts Draft Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 1870 Stuarts Draft Highway. A private family burial will take place at White Hill Church of the Brethren Church Cemetery.
