Raymond Calvin “Ronnie” Fretwell, 81, of Stuarts Draft passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family and friends.
Born January 30, 1938 in Augusta County, he was the son of the late Lemuel and Lillian (Brooks) Fretwell.
Ronnie was a former member of Rankin United Methodist Church and a current member of Valley Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Veteran having served his country honorably with the Marine Corps.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant twin sons; son, Tony Fretwell; and three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Janet (Ward) Fretwell; son, Gary Lane Fretwell of Stuarts Draft; grandson, Tyler Scott Fretwell of Crimora; and a number of nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and friends.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Rankin United Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Frank Hall officiating. There will be no formal viewing or visitation at the funeral home.
The family would like to give a special heartfelt thank you to Hospice of the Shenandoah and the Veterans Administration for the care shown to Ronnie during his illness.
