Obituary of Linda Louise Brown
Linda Brown, 81, of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020 at Union Hospital. She was born on November 29, 1938, in Terre Haute to Byron W. and Ilene E. (Gaines) Girton. She married Raymond Edward Brown on June 22, 1958; he preceded her in death on January 9, 2020. Linda is survived by her daughters, Lisa Poff (Jeffrey), Pam Schooley (Kyle Gregory), and Becky Carpenter (Scott), all of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Amanda Forsythe (Charlie), Tristan Poff (Brad Porter), Tony Poff (Ashley), Andrew Brown (Amy), Randell Schooley, Ashley Curry (Scott), Ethan Carpenter (Kayla), Brandy Smith (Trent Siepman), and Ariel Poff (Tara Williams); a cousin, Mary Pedley of Idaho; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Linda delivered newspapers for the Tribune Star, worked in the Boy Scouts of America office, and filled doughnuts at Square Donuts. However, her favorite job was helping raise her grandchildren. She babysat all of them, including some of her great-grandchildren. She was such a great cook that her grandchildren would sneak over and pretend that they hadn’t been fed, just so they could eat some of Linda’s home cooking. Linda loved flower gardening and watching the hummingbirds buzz from bloom to bloom. She enjoyed playing Nintendo games, board games, Yahtzee, and Canasta. Blessed with beginner’s luck, Linda would quickly learn and win any new game her family brought over to play. Linda was a talented crafter, making anything and everything. She could crochet, scrapbook, and was a whiz with her Cricut machine. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 19 at Roselawn Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Lilly officiating. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.roselawnfuneralhome.net
