Maxine Shaffer Rudisel

Maxine Shaffer Rudisel passed away on October 10, 2019. She was born on March 11, 1919 in Terre Haute, IN, the 14th child of William and Lucy (Albright) Shaffer. She married Richard Franklin Rudisel on July 23, 1939. Maxine was a homemaker, tending her family and home with loving care. She attended Oak Grove School in Marshall, IL as a child, and was a member of North Terre Haute Christian Church where she volunteered with the Prime Time seniors group. Maxine also worked as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and loved going on Saturday yard sale trips around the Terre Haute area. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and cooking hot dogs &rice and Rocky Road Bars for her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Forrest Richard Rudisel and James Everett Rudisel; one daughter, Carol Jane Rudisel; eight brothers, Floyd Shaffer (Erma), Norwin Shaffer, Herschell Shaffer, Warren Shaffer (Elsie), Truman Shaffer (Mary), Kenneth Shaffer (Louise), Albert Shaffer (Helen) and Forrest Shaffer; five sisters, Jettie Shaffer, Fern (Roy) Fuqua, Lena (Raymond) Hogue, Bernice (Hugh) Robertson, Delpha (Carter) Eavey; and her parents. Maxine is survived by her daughter Jeanette Fern (Charles) Martin of Mecca, IN; two grandchildren Charles Richard Martin (Angel) of Clinton, IN and Jennifer Martin Kwiatek (Brad) of Saltsburg, PA; three great grandchildren Jacob Martin (Hannah) of Clinton, IN, Maggie Martin (fiancée Aaron Hines) of Clinton, IN, and Connor Goodwin of Ann Arbor, MI; and many nieces and nephews. Care and arrangements have been entrusted to Mattox-Wood Funeral Home, 4660 Lafayette Avenue, Terre Haute, Indiana 47805. Visitation will be held at Mattox-Wood Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 15 from 11:00am to 1:00pm. The Funeral will be at 1 P.M. on Tuesday, with interment to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.
