Obituary of Rita Elaine Chezem
Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.” Rita “Elaine” Chezem It is with sadness we announce the passing of Elaine, our loving and devoted mother, on March 19, 2020 at her residence in Plainfield, IN. She was born November 23, 1923 in Yorktown, IN to Elmer Willis and Josephine Catherine (Licher) Smith. She lived in Anderson, IN until 1958 when she married Raymond A. Chezem. Thus prompting several moves around the midwest due to his employment with the F.A.A.. Elaine lived a full life as a devoted Catholic, a wonderful mother and a homemaker. She loved to cook, was an avid puzzle builder, kept an immaculate house, and enjoyed many years of bowling on various leagues. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children strong values that have served each of them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Ray, her parents, several siblings, and a great grandson, Anthony Davis. Elaine is survived by her children Rita Kay (Tony) Steff of Ocklawaha, FL, Kevin (Kathy) Chezem of Indianapolis, IN, Mary Jo (Randy) Corson of Plainfield, IN, and David Chezem of Bloomington, IL. Grandchildren, Sean (Carie) Davis, James (Jessica) Davis, Nick (Laura) Steff, Jeremy (Reanna) Toney, Keith Chezem, Joseph (Brooke) Chezem, Shelley Bradshaw, Ross Corson, Emily (Ben) Hardwick. Seventeen great-grandchildren Jaszmin Davis, Jacelle, Quinton, and Unique Davis, Nathan and Emma Toney, Rhys Chezem, Jason and Alaina Chezem, Madyson, Maycie, Gavin, Gabryella, Amylia, and Ayva Bradshaw, Lily and Laney Hardwick. Sisters Mary Ellen Hickner, Betty Ann Myer, Jeannine Kempher, sister-in laws JoAnn Chezem and Phyllis Chezem and many nieces and nephews. Private family services were held at Roselawn Memorial Park in Terre Haute, Indiana. Memorials in Elaine's memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.
