Obituary of Ana Martinez
Ana Rolon Maysonet Martinez, Mami, was born on March 21, 1922, on the island of Puerto Rico. Her parents were Justa Rolon and Pablo Maysonet. Mami married our father, Brigido Martinez, in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico. From that union three daughters were born, Ana Myrta, Carmencita, and Migdalia. While still young, Mami learned sewing from her mother, Justa. That enabled her to sew all of the clothing, including school uniforms, for her daughters. Mami always sought to live close to the schools we attended. In Puerto Rico, we lived practically across from the school. Our family relocated to St. Croix, USVI, in 1956, where our father established himself in the construction business. Mami was very diligent in securing the best educational experience possible for her daughters, by having Papi enroll us in St. Patrick's School. She continued to reside close to the school. On St. Croix, Mami also, became a member of the group of "Cursillistas". These parishioners provided volunteer services assisting the church in its outreach ministries. Once we completed school and had married, Mami embarked on her own dream of a lifetime, becoming a nurse. She enrolled in evening classes to improve her English and took nursing courses. She joyfully worked for ten years as a Nurse's Assistant at the Juan Luis Hospital. Mami was a formidable mother and grandmother. She taught us the value of a good education, the importance of getting along and loving each other, and to always be honest and respectful in everything we do. Mami always gave us great advice, love, and support. We love her greatly and enjoyed our time with her. Mami left to cherish her memory, and to celebrate her life, her daughters, Ana Myrta Civile, Carmencita J Milligan; her sisters, Carmen Maysonet, and Emma Maysonet; grandchildren, Joyce Evelyn Groshart, Vernon M Fabio, Jr., Ife Michelle Milligan, Mark L Milligan, 2nd.; Great-grandchildren, Carlos Torres, Michael J Hernandez, Caleb Fabio, Leila Fabio, Judah A Johnson, Mosiah A Johnson, Lisette A Hernandez, Najah Fabio, Elijah Fabio, Amari K Milligan, Ade K Milligan; Great-great grandchildren, Kiara Torres, Natalie Torres, Sofia Torres, Miliana Grace Torres, Jaylynn; Son-in law, Mikael Samuel; sister-in law, Angelita Cruz; nieces and nephews, Genie, Dennito, Raul, Harrito, Judith, Hector, Iris, among many others; Grands-in-law, Juan C Soto, Virginia Fabio, Nicole Milligan, Viviana Reyes; and Riley Kristine Potter, among many other loving and devoted family and friends.
