Walter R. Abrecht Jr.

Walter R. Abrecht, Jr., 80, went to be with the Lord on October 27, 2011 while surrounded by his family. He was born in Frederick, Maryland, the son of the late Walter R. Abrecht, Sr and Margaret Abrecht. Walter served his country in the United States Navy for 20 years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. His second career was with the Virginia Beach Police Department in the Communications Division retiring with 24 years of service. Walter was preceded in death by his first wife, Doreen A. Abrecht and brother, Franklyn Abrecht. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 42 years, Helen Abrecht, his children; Ruth Gray (Wayne), Ray Greenwood, Jr. (Carol), Debra Goodnoh (Bill), Walter Abrecht, III, (Kathy), Mary Stephenson and Hope Murphy (Kevin), 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; brothers, Richard, Marian and Francis Abrecht and numerous other loving family and friends. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 1 PM with full Military Honors in Rosewood Memorial Park, 601 N. Witchduck Road in Virginia Beach.
