It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Edward J. Haberstroh of Williamsburg, VA (previously of Hazlet, NJ) on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the age of 96. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 17, 1926 and lived in Hazlet, NJ for 30 years before retiring to Williamsburg, VA. Ed was an accomplished baseball pitcher as a young man, a cadet in the United States Army Air Corps during WW II and an owner of a photo engraving company in New York City. During his time in NJ, Ed served as a Republican councilman, played third base on the local Hazlet softball team and won many bowling trophies. He also enjoyed fishing and boating on the Jersey Shore. Ed loved to keep busy. After moving to Williamsburg, he enjoyed working at Colonial Downs and taking daily walks around his community. He was an avid golfer well into his eighties. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, good humor and generosity to everyone he met. Ed is predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (LeVan) Haberstroh; sister, Winifred Robertson; son, Richard Todd Haberstroh; and daughter-in-law, Pamela (Brand) Haberstroh. Edward is survived by his loving children, Christine DeYoung and her husband Jay of Lancaster, VA, Edward W. Haberstroh and his wife Kathy of Oakhurst, NJ, Kathryn Klein and her husband Lawrence Freed of Easton, PA and Stephen Haberstroh of Alexandria, VA; daughter-in-law, Claudia Haberstroh of Holmdel, NJ; ten grandchildren, Jon DeYoung, Janise Stout, Steven Haberstroh, Christina Moylan, Katie DeYoung, Meredith Marks, Craig Haberstroh, Kevin Klein, Kaylie Haberstroh, Tim Haberstroh and eight great-grandchildren. A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
