Michael Anthony Bruha passed away unexpectedly due to an aortic dissection on January 9, 2019 at Norfolk General Hospital. He was 56 years old. He received heroic emergency care at the Norfolk General Hospital's cardiac intensive care unit. Michael was born on Oct. 3, 1962, in Chicago, Illinois. He was the oldest son of Margaret and James Bruha of Williamsburg. While growing up, he accompanied his parents to several overseas countries where his father served as a Foreign Service Officer. Michael graduated from West Springfield High School in Springfield, Va. He played and lettered in varsity tennis in high school, and had a lifetime interest in the sport. He received his BA in Economics at Old Dominion University. Michael worked as the IT support for the Daily Press and the Virginia Gazette newspapers. He was a loving and generous uncle to his nephews, Thomas and David Mueller, sons of his sister, Mary, and her husband David Mueller. He was a good buddy to his younger brother Jimmy and enjoyed time with Jimmy's sons, Tyler and Alex. There will be a memorial mass celebrated at St. Bede Catholic Church in Williamsburg on Saturday, February 16, at 12:30 P.M., followed by a reception in Kaplan Hall.
