Elizabeth was born May 19, 1942 in Lake County, Indiana to the late Clay William and Cordelia Mae (Corns) Hatler. She was a graduate of Hammond High School and then attended Williams Woods College. She then completed her education at Butler University. Elizabeth was a creative entrepreneur. She had a farm in Hamilton County and would grow the best produce. For decades she and her “Earthly Delights” produce stands were a common attraction at local farmer markets. She also had the first food truck in the area at Earl’s Auction on the west side along with the only Mexican restaurant at City Market – The Rio Grande. Elizabeth was also a produce broker and was well respected by the Amish Community. Elizabeth was the definition of a “people person”, she had never met a stranger and was always a positive influence on others. Throughout her life, she always had an uncommon knack to be involved in children’s lives. She had an incredibly big heart and dedicated countless hours fostering the development of our youth. For many years, she was very active in the Hamilton County Child Advocacy Association and later, Promising Futures of Noblesville. She also served as a CASA – court appointed special advocate in Hamilton County. When there was free time, she enjoyed cooking, ballroom dancing and attending film festivals. She was happiest though making memories with her beloved family. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her loving husband, Barry L. Chapman. She is survived by her devoted children, Liza Chapman, Kirk Chapman and Wes Chapman and her dear granddaughter, Madeleine Chapman as well as, a host of old dear friends and grateful customers.
