MARY MARGARET SMITH On Friday June 29, 2018 Mary Margaret Smith of Arlington, VA passed away. She was the loving daughter of the late Margaret Ann and John T. Smith. She is survived by her beloved sister Mildred E Burke and many adoring nieces and nephews. She was the youngest of nine children. Her deceased siblings are Helen H Kleinot, Charles W. Smith, Gladys V. Stone, John T. Smith, Doris A. Cray, George E. Smith, James E. Smith. Mary was born in Maryland on January 30, 1935 and lived with her sister and mother in Arlington, Virginia. She worked for Bell Atlantic for almost 40 years and was an executive upon retirement. She then began a second career for 15 years in property management for Gates, Hudson & Associates. She was admired and respected by all her coworkers and received many awards. Mary had a great sense of humor and positive attitude. She was fun to be around. She loved her family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. Her passions included watching the Redskins, playing the lottery, gardening, and enjoying her mountain home in Wintergreen. She will miss her dog Nicki. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at Murphy’s Funeral Home, 4510 Wilson Blvd. Arlington, Va. on Saturday, July 14, 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will immediately follow from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
