John Edward Ellis passed away on November 2, 2015 at the IU Bloomington Hospital. John was born in Bloomington, June 22, 1945. His parents were Theodore (Pete) and Pauline (Polly) Ellis. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years Linda Sue Ellis. John grew up working in the Ellis Greenhouse and graduated from University High School in 1963. He served in the US Air Force for four years. John graduated from Indiana University with a BS from the school of business. For twenty-eight years, he was a sales representative for Central Supply Co. Lake Lemon was a very special place to John. Pete and Polly built a cottage on the lake in the mid 1950’s where many happy gatherings took place. Later, John and Linda owned their own houses on the lake for over 40 years. John enjoyed fishing on the lake and was an avid water skier. Lake Lemon friends and neighbors were a big part of John’s life. John and Linda enjoyed many years of traveling to the Bahamas, Hawaii, California, and Colorado. Vision Mission trips took them to Honduras and Africa. Survivors include his sister, Sara Ellis Wood (Tom); nephew, Christopher Wood (Audra); great-nephews, Ethan and Carter; niece, Elizabeth Wood Bays (Mark); great niece, Kate; great-nephew, Andy. John is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joyce Meleski (Jim); niece, Lori Pugh McLaughlin (Tim); great nephews, Declan and Liam; nephew, Zach Pugh (Amy); and great-niece Avia. The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, November 6, 2015 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third St. Memorial contributions can be made to the Brown County Humane Society, P.O. 746, Nashville, IN 47448.
