Elwood Deane

Elwood "Sheriff" Deane, 71, of Crozet, passed away on March 20, 2018. Sheriff was born on December 16, 1946, in Greene Co, VA, to the late Elmer J. and Laura Conley Deane. He worked for the Virginia Highway Department based out of Free Union for 35+ years. In his retirement he enjoyed working in his yard and being outside. He was often seen taking short daily rides in his truck around the neighborhood. In later years he became an armchair pro at the Family Feud television show. He loved all of his Grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Elwood was preceded in death by sister Sherry Eppard and brother Charles Conley Elwood is survived by sister's Catherine Breeden and Janet Perry and the love of his life Martha Shifflett. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 2pm, at Prize Hill Church in Boonesville. A graveside service will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Western Albemarle Rescue Squad. Martha would like to thank everyone for their support through this difficult time.
