Evelyn Arnette

Evelyn Green Arnette, age 93, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Saturday May 1, 2021, at her residence in Charlottesville, Virginia. Evelyn was born on May 17, 1927, in Greenfield, Virginia, to the late Oliver and Edna Green. She graduated from Virginia State University in 1950, with a B.S. degree. Upon graduation, she was an administrative assistant and supervisor for 25 years at the University of Virginia. She was an instructor at the National Business College for 6 years. In addition to her work, she volunteered at the Recording for the Blind for 3 years. She sponsored children in Africa for over 30 years and made contributions to many other charities. She was a member of Mt. Woodland Baptist Church, and Mt. Zion First African Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Arnette Sr.; a brother, Arthur Green; sister, Lillian Green; and a son, Harry Arnette Jr. (Cassie). Evelyn is survived by her four sons, Greg, Locia, Vonreese, and Inoch “Pip” Arnette; one daughter, Vivian “Babysis” Price (George), and five grandchildren Charelle and Terrence Price, Tyesha and Montreal Fortune, and Locia Arnette Jr. “Binky”. Viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., on Friday, May 7, 2021, at the Teague Funeral Home 2260 Ivy Road, Charlottesville, VA 22903 A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2021, at Oakwood Cemetery Elliot Avenue, Charlottesville, Virginia 22902.
