Lillian Ellen Schomp, 95, of Charlottesville, Virginia / Bradenton, Florida passed away on Monday, May 16th, 2022. Lillian was born on January 16th, 1927, in Englewood, New Jersey, to the late James Andrew Heron and Lillian Elizabeth Plantz Heron. Lillian was one of three children, along with her sister the late Mildred Frances Heron Phelps and brother James Andrew Heron. She grew up in Ridgefield Park, NJ and graduated from Ridgefield Park HS. She lived in Teaneck, NJ and then Paramus, NJ. She worked at Teterboro Airport during WW2, and during that time met and married Walter Ellis Schomp on July the 4th in 1948. The family moved to Oakland, NJ in 1964, where she was a member of Ponds Reformed Church where she acted as treasurer. Lillian later worked as an interior decorator for Nassau‘s in Ridgewood and Preakness Fabrics in Wayne, NJ. She later moved to Earlysville, VA and then to Charlottesville. VA, where she attended Covenant Church and enjoyed acting in Christmas plays. Lillian was an avid reader, enjoyed her many sewing projects and baked the best chocolate chip cookies and pineapple upside down cake. She took long walks each day and volunteered at a nursing home in Charlottesville, VA for many years spreading the gospel. Lillian was a good listener, gave comfort to the ailing and wrote articles for the Alzheimer’s Association newsletter, sharing her experiences she had while caring for her husband Walter, who developed Alzheimer’s disease. Lillian will be missed by many, including her ten grandchildren, Jeremy Schomp, Matthew Schomp, April Schomp Allen, David Freund, Julie Freund Gurel, James Freund, Greg Crew Smith, Brian Schomp, Melissa Schomp Vasquez and Cody Ziebko. A legacy of her love. She was blessed with a long and full life, and all praise goes to God for the blessing of her loving presence in our lives. “Glory be to God”.
