Marjorie Lee Pelley Beaman, 95, of Columbus, died at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011, at Miller’s Merry Manor at Hope.
Mrs. Beaman retired from the accounting department at Cummins Engine Company. She was a charter member of North Christian Church, a past Brownie and Girl Scout leader, past president of Pan-Hellenic Club, former president and vice president of the Senior Center and a member of Alumni Chapter of Kappa Delta Phi, CREAK Club, Elks Club, American Duplicate Bridge Association and Senior Service Center. She also was a volunteer with the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street with Dr. Lanny C. Lawler officiating. Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of South Central Indiana or the American Cancer Society.
Born in Casey County, Ky., April 6, 1916, Mrs. Beaman was the daughter of James Frank and Ada Lee Lay Pelley. She married J. Alson Beaman July 8, 1938, in Jeffersonville. He preceded her in death Jan. 25, 1971.
Mrs. Beaman is survived by sons, J. Alson (Janice) Beaman of Columbus, Jerry L. (Celia) Beaman of Pataskala, Ohio, Joe M. Beaman of Columbus and Mark Beaman of Sacramento, CA; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Cheryl Koontz; two brothers; and two sisters.
