Marcia Ann Peacock, 83, passed away peacefully at Dogwood Village on Tuesday, November 7th. Marcia was born in Winchester, Massachusetts on September 18, 1934 to Harold C. and Helen L. Miller. Marcia earned her Bachelor of Arts in Education from the University of Vermont in 1956.
Marcia began her elementary teaching career in Vermont and continued to educate young children in Michigan and Richmond, Virginia. She loved her career as a teacher and passed along her love of reading to many students and her grandchildren. Marcia was also the very first female ocean life guard for the state of Maine and spent many summers life guarding at Reed State Park in Georgetown, Maine. She enjoyed many years of traveling with her husband and family to Maine, as well as had the good fortunate to go on many cruises throughout the world.
Marcia was a faithful member of Precious Blood Catholic Church since 1972 when she moved to Culpeper. In addition to being a Sunday School teacher at Precious Blood Church, she was a member of the Culpeper Bridge Group and enjoyed bridge, travel, golf (in her day she even shot a hole in one!) and reading. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved being with her family.
Mrs. Peacock was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, Daniel Joseph Peacock. She is survived by her children: Stephen M. Peacock and wife Lisa Shell Peacock of Culpeper, VA; Lyn-Ellen Maass and husband Paul J. Allen of Columbia, SC; Maureen P. Scholz and husband David P. Scholz of McLean, VA and Amy R. Miller of Quincy, CA; her grandchildren, Erin P. Chilelli and husband Aaron; Daniel S. Peacock and wife Price; Theodore N. Maass, III and wife Ryan; Carl A. Maass, Caroline H. Maass and Nathan M. Scholz. In addition to being predeceased by her husband, Mrs. Peacock was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Donald Miller, Richard Miller and Gary Miller.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Precious Blood Catholic Church on December 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM; the family will receive visitors before the funeral mass in the church reception area at 10:00 AM. Burial will be private and at a later date.
The family wishes to thank the dedicated and loving staff at both Dogwood Village and Culpeper Medical Center for the wonderful and compassionate care of their mother. They would also like to thank Mrs. Peacock’s faithful and devoted friends Darlene and Tommy Barron and Lynn Hertz for always being there for their mom. Memorials may be made to Precious Blood Catholic Church (Culpeper, Virginia) or to St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church (Orange, Virginia). Online condolences may be offered by visiting Clore-English.com. The family has entrusted Clore-English Funeral Home with these arrangements.
