Donald "Ray" Brown

Donald “Ray” Brown, 78, of Evansville, IN passed away peacefully at home after an 11 year courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, June 11, 2020. He was born on July 1, 1941. Ray was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ German Township. He retired from Bristol Myers after 37 years. Ray played softball and bowling through Bristol Myers and played in their clabber league for over 40 years. Clabber partners over the years were Mel Schmitt, Mike Mason and Elmer Boeke. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Charlotte Brown; brother, Johnnie Brown; Brenda’s son, Steven Lee Seals; sister-in-law, Fran Swick (Larry); brother-in-law, Bill Akers. Ray is survived by his wife of 46 years and love of his life, Brenda Brown; daughters, Tammy Droste (Tim), and Angela May (Doug); son, Daryl Brown; grandchildren, Tyler (Hillary) and Taylor Droste, Macey and Anna Dragon, Wesley Brown; great grandchildren, Stella, Olivia and Thomas Droste; sister, Kathy Owens (Garnett); sister-in-law, Pat Butler (Frank); nephews, Greg Owens (Mary Jane) and Alan Brown (Kaye); niece, Johnna Howard; Brenda’s daughter-in-law, Lana Seals; brother-in-law, Bob Akers; nephews, Burt, Wayne (Cherice), Travis (Debbie), Chase (Diana), Mark and Matt. extended nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Rose Akers; best friends, Art Schmitt and Elmer Boeke; good neighbor, Chuck Cobb. Ray’s family extends a special thank you to Dr. Ahmed for his kindness and care. A Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2020 at Alexander West Chapel officiated by Pastor Terry Farmer with burial to follow in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit 1-5 p.m. Sunday, June 14, 2020 and Monday 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Vanderburgh Humane Society.
