 Obituario de Rex A Jewell
Rex Jewell a prominent son of Henderson, where he was born, lived and died at the age of 75 on May 14, 2022. He will be remembered by all as “family.” Whether you knew him as Rex, Rexie, Uncle Rex or Papa, we all knew him as a man who shared selflessly, celebrated life and left his mark on everyone he encountered. He especially enjoyed traveling and good times shared with others over food, music and the occasional drink. Rex is Latin for king, and it is hard to imagine there are many more deserving of the title. He loved Henderson, and served proudly, his country in the US Airforce, his Commonwealth as a Kentucky Colonel, his city as fireman and the Tristate Area… BARBECUE. His legacy will not be forgotten, the generosity and expertise he contributed to so many community events, especially the W.C. Handy Blues & Barbecue Festival continue. Collectively we mourn his loss, and we will forever remember the love, wisdom and experiences that Rex shared with us. He is loved by his wife of 40 years Mary; his girls, Erin, Lauren, Kelly, Shannon, Auramae and Madeline; brothers, Larry and Donnie (Ruth): sisters, Sandy (Ed) and Karen (Jim); nieces, nephews and neighbors. A celebration of life will be set at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rex's memory can be made to Donations to St. Anthony’s Hospice, 1305 N. Elm St., Henderson, KY 42420 or online at stanthonyshospice.org/donate.
