Wilma J. Bitter

Wilma Wilma J. Bitter, 91, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, October 10, 2019. She was born August 1, 1928 in Evansville, IN to the late Allie and Lila Vanhooser. She was a dedicated member of Grace Baptist Church for more than 60 years. Wilma graduated from Central High School in 1946. She was a loving mother, grandmother, devoted friend and avid golfer. Wilma had a servant's heart and she lived her life quoting her favorite Bible verse, Philippians 4:13. Wilma was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, William Bitter in March 2019, and her son, Stephen Bitter, in June 2018. She is survived by her children, Bill Bitter, Jr., and Lesli Werner of Evansville; grandson, Kyle Bitter of Owensboro, and sister, Gail Birdsong of North Carolina. The family would like to thank the staff at Braun's Nursing Home for their exceptional care and love shown to Wilma during the last six months and to the staff of Kindred Hospice for their compassion over the last few days of her life. You will never be forgotten. A funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 14, 2019 at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 13, 2019 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
