Joyce Martyne Longerbeam (also known as “Tina”), 94, died of natural causes at her home in Northern Virginia on Monday, March 29, 2021. Mrs. Longerbeam was born on August 10, 1926, in Washington, D.C., to the late Effie Symons Longerbeam, and Joyce Clarke Longerbeam. She was raised in Arlington, Virginia. Her husband of 43 years, Norman F. Longerbeam, passed in 1990. She is survived by her loving daughter, Joy Longerbeam Withorn (Robert J. Withorn (deceased)) of Alexandria, VA; granddaughter, Sheri Lynn Withorn of Wilmington, NC; sister, Shirley Longerbeam Hummer Jones of Oak Hill, VA; brother, Ronald Longerbeam of Manassas, VA; and many nieces, nephews, and close family friends. Brothers and sisters that preceded her in death are Ruth Longerbeam Hopkins (Joseph Hopkins (deceased)), Wallace Longerbeam (Mary Hughes Longerbeam (deceased)), Golden Longerbeam, Pauline Longerbeam Sydnor (Charles N. Sydnor), Donald Longerbeam (Lynda Owens Longerbeam), and Phyllis Longerbeam Dunn (Lloyd Dunn (deceased)).
A memorial service and interment will be held at the Clifton Cemetery, 12855 Yates Ford Road, Clifton, VA 20124, on Saturday, April 10, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., with a fellowship reception immediately following at the Clifton Town Hall, 12641 Chapel Road, Clifton, VA 20124.
