 Obituario de Peter C. Kostoff
Peter Clemens “Pete” Kostoff (age 92) passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, the 15th of August, 2019, at the Fairfax Nursing Home in Fairfax, Virginia. Pete Kostoff was born in Chicago, IL on March 17th, 1927. He graduated from Lane Technical High School in Chicago in 1945. He was drafted shortly thereafter, and joined ROTC to become an Army Officer during the Korean War. He studied engineering, physics and math in college, receiving a BS from the University of Illinois and an MS from Purdue University. He served in the Army for a total of 26 years, working on the Army Missile Program (he was a real life “rocket scientist”!) and in research and development. He served one tour in Vietnam. Following his retirement from the Army, he worked for many years at Martin Marietta, focusing on defense programs. Pete met the love of his life, Marjorie “Midge” Andrachak, while stationed in Fort Knox, KY in 1947. They were married shortly thereafter, and had a wonderful life together until Midge passed away in 2002. Pete and Midge are survived by their loving children Karen Sheble (Mike) and Michael Kostoff (Gale), their grandchildren Michelle Capozzoli (Anthony) and Alison Jones (Chris) and their great grandchildren Hartley, Cecilia and Everett. Pete was a devoted father and husband. He loved his country and his family passionately. He enjoyed telling stories, watching Hallmark movies and playing with his loving Maltese Max—who never left his side. He was a spiritual man, and was involved in many Church activities with his wife during their many years in Orlando, FL. Anyone who knew him experienced the warmth, energy and joy he brought to the room. He was one of a kind and a true gentleman. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 5 to 7 PM on October 3rd at the Country Club of Fairfax in Fairfax, VA. A Memorial Service will also be held in the Chapel at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Orlando, FL at 11 AM on November 16th, followed immediately by a brief ceremony in St. Luke’s Garden where Pete’s ashes will be buried near those of his loving wife. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any of the following organizations:
