Marjorie Louise Mathies

Marjorie Louise (Farris) Mathies, Centreville, Virginia, passed away on 6 February 2019 at the Capital Center of Caring Hospice, Aldie, Va. She was 91 years old. She was born 30 April 1927, in Eldon, Missouri. From 1929 to 2001, she was a resident of Kansas City, Kansas. She was married to Frank L. Mathies in 1953, and lived in Kansas City, Kansas until 2001. She was a member of the Centreville United Methodist Church of Centreville, VA and First Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kansas. She was a graduate of Kansas City Missouri Business College. Her forty-three years of work included: Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, Public Office Representative; Kansas City Board of Education, School Secretary; Providence-St. Margaret Medical Center, Administrative Secretary to the Director; Environmental Protection Agency, Receptionist. She retired from work in 1992. She was a member of Centreville United Methodist Church, Centreville, VA; former member of Ohatchee United Methodist Church, Ohatchee, AL, where she was an organist and a member of United Methodist Women. She is survived by a daughter and husband, Barbara and Rudolph Muniz, Pueblo, CO; wo sons, LTC John L. Mathies (Ret.), Columbia, TN; Mark and Eileen Mathies, Centreville, VA; six grandchildren: Mark A Mathies, Jennifer Mathies, Collin Mathies, Christopher Mathies, Brandon Howell, Sarah Schweitzer and Nathan Muniz. She is also survived by a brother, Donald Farris, Monmouth, IL. Mrs. Mathies is to be laid to rest beside her late husband, Frank Mathies, at Stonewall Memorial Gardens, Manassas, VA. Officiating the graveside service will be Rev. Will Montgomery of Centreville United Methodist Church.
