Vitalia Violeta of Falls Church, VA passed to be with the Lord on February 8, 2020 peacefully in her home after battling pancreatic cancer for nearly 2 years. She was born in Ecuador on January 12, 1940. She came to the United States in 1962. She studied to be a hairdresser and became a very talented and requested one. She loved doing hair and she was well known for her updos back in the 70’s. She also loved to cook, especially for her family, loved to dance, laugh and was always the life of the party. She lived life to the fullest and found the best in any situation. She loved helping her family and friends and especially loved to go bargain shopping at Macy’s and thrift stores.
She is survived by her three sons and one daughter. David Roman (spouse, Maria Consuelo), John Roman (spouse, Michelle), Emily Gardiner, Beverly Mendoza (deceased), Garry Mendoza (spouse, Jaymie). She was a beloved grandmother to 13 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In Ecuador, she has two sisters and three brothers along with numerous nieces and nephews. In the United States, she has two sisters, one sister-in-law and a niece. On the same day she passed, her great-great nephew was born. The newest addition to our mother’s life and family was her dear friend and care aid, Mena Moreta.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, February 14, 2020 12 PM at Fairfax Baptist Church, 10830 Main St. in Fairfax. A visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society https://www.cancer.org/involved/donate/memorial-giving.html her memory.
