Shelby J. Mays

SHELBY JEAN MAYS, 79, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2018, surrounded by family and friends. Born March 19, 1939, in Middles boro, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Elizabeth Shackels. A lifelong homemaker, Shelby enjoyed gardening, and the occasional weekend adventures. She is survived by her children, Latisa (Scott) Guest of Greenfield, Steven (Sherry) Mays of Kendallville and Tammie Mays of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Jason (Hollie) Guest, Philip (Lauren) Guest, Amber Mays, Dylan Mays, and Chase Mays; six great - grandchildren..She was also preceded in death by husband, George H. Mays; one son, Michael Mays; and two brothers, Clarence Jr. and Franklin "Sunny" Shackels. Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 North Wells St., Fort Wayne (IN 46808). Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at I.O.O.F.
