Velma Bernice Thorn

V. Bernice “Bea” Winans Thorn, 96, passed away July 1, 2019 at Heritage Pointe Nursing Home in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born in Grand Island, Nebraska to the late William and Jessie (Lyman) Doan. She worked for Concordia Thrift Shop and loved being at the lake. Bea was an active member of Concordia Lutheran Church and was a woman strong in her faith. Surviving are her children, Patricia Evans and Debra Gugel; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Wissing; and 31 nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her husband, C. Richard “Dick” Winans”; four brothers; and three sisters. Funeral service 3:00 pm Sunday, July 7, 2019 at C.M. Sloan and Sons Funeral Home with visitation from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm prior to the service. Burial at Covington Memorial Gardens Monday, July 8, 2019 at 10:00 am.
