Joyce Colleen Walchle

Joyce Colleen (Dow) Walchle, 90 of Angola, passed away Friday morning March 29, 2024, at the Lakeland Rehab and Healthcare Center in Angola with her son by her side. Joyce graduated from Orleans High school. She then served in the U.S. Army, where she met the love of her life Randy, he referred to her as PFC Toots and the most beautiful woman in the world. While in the Army, Joyce advanced early on to Leadership school and was one of the youngest to lead a Platoon of women. Joyce was very proud of her Vermont heritage and loved raising her three boys immensley. She spent many years as Den mother for her son's Boy Scout Troops. Joyce and Randy eventually moved to Snow Lake, Indiana where she was an avid water skier way into her 50's. She retired from Dana Corporation in Angola and begun traveling throughout the country in their RV and taking many cruises, ending up in Florida for 25 years. Joyce was born on August 11, 1933, in Orleans, Vermont a daughter of the late, Maurice and Dale (Ramsdell) Dow. She was united in marriage to Randle D. Walchle on April 5, 1953, in Eatontown, New Jersey. They were happily married for 65 years, he preceded her in death on August 29, 2018. Survivors include three sons: Jeffrey Walchle of Battle Creek, MI, Peter Walchle and David (Dee) Walchle both of Angola. Seven grandchildren: Haley Way, Trent Walchle, Tyler Walchle and Lindsay Leitz, Shannon Stephens, Andrea Walchle and Adam Walchle; sixtreen greatgrandchildren and two sister in laws: Pudge Dow and Faith Ann Walchle. She was preceded in death by two great grandchildren. A private family service will take place at a later date in Vermont. Memorial contributions can be made out to the Steuben County Humane Shelter; as Joyce and Randy rescued two dogs there, Emily and Princess, which they loved dearly.
