Leahnell Wynn Poffenbarger, 89, of Angola and formerly of Fremont and Fort Wayne, died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at Northern Lakes Nursing Center in Angola. Mrs. Poffenbarger retired as a secretary at Franke Plating in Fort Wayne. She had attended Fremont schools, and lived most of her life in Fort Wayne, before returning to the Fremont area. She loved to do crafts, sewing and quilting, and rug making. Mrs. Poffenbarger was a past president of the Orland American Legion Auxiliary. She also enjoyed being a volunteer for the Special Olympics. She was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Auburn to Glee and Letha (Smith) Wynn. She married Wendell Cary Poffenbarger on Oct. 5. 1941. He died Feb. 9, 1999. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Victoria and Steven Carlson of Fort Wayne; a brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Elizabeth Wynn of Angola; a sister, Anna Jean Foulk of Fremont; two grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Garman, Victor, Willard, Keith and Robert Wynn. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at Beams Funeral Home in Fremont. Funeral services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at the Beams Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fremont Cemetery. Memorials are to the family.
